During the second week of May, our Grade 4 and 6 students participated in our annual Camp Sasamat outdoor experience. The Grade 4's arrived on Monday morning, and left the following day, while the Grade 6's stayed from Tuesday to Friday. The students participated in a wide variety of fun and educational outdoor activities, and although the weather was a bit cool and damp sometimes, a great time was had by all.

Early morning on Sasamat Lake

A one hour hike around Sasamat Lake was a great chance to learn about the environment and stretch our legs a bit. |
The Grade 6 students received two hours of canoe instruction from the Sasamat staff. A few participants mistook this for swimming time! |
The Ropes Course provided plenty of challenges - and a few bruises, too! |
|
Our ace archers take aim! |
A few brave souls enjoyed the swimming. |
The fishing was a little slow this year! |
The food was great - even with our special "Theme Dinners"! |
A family of Canada Geese paid us a visit. |
Chopping wood for the campfire. |
|
Our evening campfires were a great way to wind down from a busy day. |
|
Badminton was one of the popular P.E. activities! |
All too soon, we were packing up the bus and heading home to catch up on missed sleep. |
Good-bye Camp Sasamat!
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Sasamat Outdoor Centre for their hospitality!
